About Tony

Tony started his career on the Wollongong Mercury in 1967 as a copy boy and then was employed as a press photography cadet. He has worked in or around the news industry for over thirty years. He worked for the Canberra Times and Melbourne Age where he won a number of awards including Best Sports Photograph and was runner up Press Photographer of the Year. He started his own business in 1983, Impressions Photography Pty Ltd and Sporting Pix Australia covering national and international sporting events including The Melbourne Cup, AFL Grand Finals, Formula 1 Grand Prix, Australian Open Tennis, One Day Cricket and Test Matches, Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, World Athletics Championships and World Swimming Championships.

Sporting Pix was the official photographer for the Australian Football League and Cricket Australia, Soccer Australia, and Athletics Australia. After 15 successful years Sporting Pix Australia was sold to Getty Images in 1998.

More recently Tony has been covering major International sporting events for Associated Press.Tony is still undertaking sports and commercial photographic assignments but is now concentrating on a different aspect of his work and now enjoys travelling and photographing the Australian landscape. He has started with a selection of images from around Australia and will be adding  more images progressively to the website  as he travels around the country. He will be taking off again in mid-May 2006 to take a series of pictures around central Australia.
