ABOUT TONY
I started my career in 1967. I worked as a press photographer in the news industry for over thirty years. My first job was at the Wollongong Mercury where I developed an interest in photography. Later I worked for the Canberra Times and Melbourne Age where I won a number of awards including Best Sports Photograph and was runner up “Press Photographer of the Year”. I started my own business in 1983, Impressions Photography Pty Ltd and Sporting Pix Australia covering national and international sporting events including The Melbourne Cup, AFL Grand Finals, Formula 1 Grand Prix, Australian Open Tennis, One Day Cricket and Test Matches, Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, World Athletics Championships and World Swimming Championships.
Sporting Pix was the official photographer for the Australian Football League and Cricket Australia, Soccer Australia, and Athletics Australia. After 15 successful years Sporting Pix Australia was sold to Getty Images in 1998.
More recently I have covered major International sporting events for Associated Press. While I am still undertaking sports and commercial photographic assignments, I am now concentrating on a different aspect of work and enjoy travelling and photographing the Australian and overseas landscapes. Here is a selection of these images. I will be adding more images progressively to the website as I travel around the country.
